Moral or Immoral! Should we legalize prostitution? The analysis of the article; Learning from Nevada from the book The State of Sex. Tourism, Sex and Sin in the New American Heartland. Leads me to write about the social values, and moral values that contradict the acceptance of legalizing Prostitution within the United States. My opinion will be opposing the notion of any support in legalizing such immoral acts that threaten the moral fabric of the United States of America. So the issue is whether or not to legalize prostitution within the United States, which initiates a national debate on this issue. Social Values All thru the colonization of the United States of America religion has shaped and guided the social values that we as American’s hold dear such as god, country, and family. Therefore legalizing prostitution can unhinge such morals that we as Americans’ hold in high regard. The immoral act of prostitution causes problems such as pimping, the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and the problem of human trafficking that leads to sexual servitude. These are all outcomes that can arise, but not limited to legalization of prostitution. According to Brents, B. A., Jackson, C.A., Hausbeck, K. (2010) states, â€Å"Across the globe, the regulation of prostitution has shifted in the late twentieth and early twenty- first centuries to reflect a new set of sexual norms, and a new economic climate† (p. 231).
